This photo was taken my wife Giovanna with her cheap Wallmart pink camera at our farm kitchen and that is No. 3 daughter, one out of seven and I am so proud of them all. The young guy there to your right is Dan Martino, young man of the earth, farmer, warrior, citizens and statesman and CEO of Anicama Farms. The other old fart is the Sage of Meigs County just arriving from County Court in Pomeroy, Ohio where, on occasion, I pay my dues to our great Ohio River Economy. The painting on the wall was done by Shane, an artist out of hell, best I have ever seen and one of Dan,s boys, soon to learn the fine art of a wood master and cooper. The paneling on the wall is rock maple, each board hand crafted with a 14 step process, of course that was years ago when we did not have much to work with in terms of the tools and machinery we have today.
That kitchen counter top is good old Ohio Ash, lots of cigarette burns in it , but what history, if it could only talk, then maybe, rather not !!! Behind Dan is Betty The Bitch, a wood stove second to none who is always hungry, especially when it is colder than a well diggers ass in January. Dan has become a great steward of Betty and she surely responds to his loving care.
Hopefully you enjoyed this short story and will visit us at Anicama Farms, sit on the porch, shoot the shit and share ideas, dreams, visions and leave a refreshed and better person, hopefully without hangover.
All the best, Dad Robb
